Sam Cobado

I am currently a senior in the College of Engineering working towards a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Next semester, I am entering the Early Admit Masters of Engineering program at Cornell University where I am finishing up my bachelors degree while starting my masters of engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering. My current expected graduation date is May 2023.

Through my internships at Apple and Intel, I have gained experience with SoC verification using emulation as well as data science.

I also have programming experience in Java, Python, Verilog, and C++ through class projects, internships, and project teams. In addition, I have good interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills through group work at school and organizations I participate in. I am interested in learning more about and working with the intersection of data science and silicon engineering.

I am currently seeking a full-time job at the intersection of hardware and software starting in June 2023.

What I Do

Electrical & Computer Engineer

I was a software engineering for Cornell University Unmanned Air Systems where we design, build, and test and unmanned air vehicle. On this team, I lead the testing of various antennas for communication purposes between the plane and the ground. I also helped to solder a flash trigger wire to a camera in order to detect when an image has been taken. I am going to be a hardware engineer this upcoming semester (Fall 2020). I am currently interning at Intel as a Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer for the Xeon Performance Group. In this role, I run simulation and emulation tests to verify that the chips are working as expected.

Lecturer & Teaching Assistant

I am a member of the education subteam for Cornell Data Science. This team holds a student run class every semester: INFO 1998 - Introduction to Machine Learning and Data Science in Python. I have been a teaching assistant for the past three semesters, and have taught a couple of lectures.

Runner & Triathlete in Training

I have been a runner since 2015 when I ran the Expedition Everest 5k through Animal Kingdom. Ever since, I have been training for the next distance. This past January, I completed my second Dopey Challenge which entails a 5k on Thursday, a 10k on Friday, a 1/2 marathon on Saturday, and a full marathon on Sunday. It was an experience I will never forget, and I am planning on signing up to participate again in 2023. Now I am pushing myself in other areas through training for a triathlon, which I have really been enjoying.

Blogger

This is something I am extremely new to and still working on figuring out. I was inspired to start blogging during my Intel internship where they encouraged us to share our intern experience on social media. Through this, I thought about how fun it would be to share other aspects of my life like my school experience, fun personal and school projects, and in general, my passions in life!
